Here are some of our favorite smoothie recipes:
Orange & Green Smoothie: Blend 1 cup water, 3-5 peeled & chopped oranges, 1 peeled & chopped cucumber, a few sprigs of basil, 2 handfuls of spinach, & 5 frozen strawberries. Makes 2 delicious cooling smoothies or 1 very large!Superfood Mint Smoothie: Overnight— Soak cashews (about a handful) + 3 pitted Medjool dates (soak separately) + freeze plain unsweetened soy milk (or almond or hemp) in an ice cube tray. Next Day: Place ingredients in a high-powered blender in this order: 1/4 cup coconut milk (I used lite canned) + 1/4 cup soy milk, 5-6 soy milk ice cubes, handful of spinach + 4 sprigs of mint leaves (you can add more later to taste), dates, 1 tsp (or more to taste) each of hemp & chia seeds (optional). Blend until smooth & creamy. Add cacao nibs or chopped pieces of dark chocolate for topping + chopped pieces of cashews. Super healthy, creamy, delicious! Berry-Banana Protein Shake: In order of blender placement: 1 cup non-dairy milk (I use soy milk), 1 big handful raw almonds OR 1-2 TBS almond butter, 1 scoop protein powder like Vega (optional), 2 big handfuls of spinach, 1 banana, & 1/2 cup frozen berries. Makes about 18 oz. For a longer-lasting smoothie, I use a Hydro Flask stainless steel container. Keeps smoothies cold and soups warm. Give it a good shake before drinking.Beet Smoothie: Place ingredients in this order & blend until smooth: 2 cups water, 2 TBS cashews (pre-soaked overnight), 1 TBS each hemp & chia seed, 1 peeled & shredded beet, 1 ripe banana, handful each of kale & spinach, 1/4 cup frozen berries. Blend until smooth, serve in 2 glasses, & enjoy!Watermelon Smoothie: Prepare for a sugar rush! Blend 1 cup coconut water with 2 TBS almond butter or handful of raw almonds for high-powered blenders, 2 cups frozen chopped watermelon & 1 frozen chopped banana. Chocolate Almond Butter Smoothie: Blend 1 cup non-dairy milk, 1 ripe banana, 2 TBS cacao powder (or unsweetened cocoa powder), 1-2 pitted Medjool dates (preferably soaked 2-4 hrs or overnight) or use 1 TBS agave, 2 TBS almond butter, handful of spinach & 1/2 cup frozen berries.
Four-Ingredient Mint Chocolate Shake (a dessert smoothie!): 1 cup coconut ice cream, 2 TBS hemp/soy/almond (I used soy) milk (add 2 more TBS if needed), handful of spinach, a few mint leaves (to taste). To thicken shake more: Add 1 peeled & chopped frozen banana or simply add more ice cream. Blend until smooth. Toppings: Cacao nibs or chopped pieces of dark chocolate and cashews.
